Frequently Asked Questions

What image formats are supported?

Our converter supports all common web image formats including PNG, JPEG/JPG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO, SVG, and JFIF. We use specialized conversion algorithms to create true format files rather than simple renamed files. For example, our ICO generator creates a multi-size icon file with 16x16, 32x32, and 48x48 versions, our TIFF converter creates proper TIFF structure, and our SVG generator creates a vector container with your image embedded properly.

Why don't you support RAW formats like CR2, ARW, etc.?

RAW formats (like CR2, ARW, NEF) are proprietary camera formats that contain unprocessed sensor data. Browsers cannot create these formats as they require camera-specific data and proprietary encoding that is unique to each manufacturer. While we can read some RAW formats (with limitations) using specialized libraries, it's technically impossible to convert a processed image (like JPG or PNG) back to a true RAW format in any environment, not just browsers.

Is there a file size limit?

Since all processing happens in your browser, the limit depends on your device's memory. In general, you can convert images up to 50MB in size, but performance may vary based on your computer's capabilities.

Are my images private and secure?

Yes! All processing happens directly in your browser - your images are never uploaded to our servers. This ensures complete privacy and security for your sensitive or personal images.

What's the difference between the image formats?

Each format has its own advantages: PNG offers lossless quality with transparency, JPEG provides smaller file sizes for photographs, WebP offers excellent compression with good quality, and AVIF is a next-generation format with superior compression. Our AVIF implementation provides up to 50% smaller files compared to JPEG while maintaining similar quality, making it ideal for web optimization.

Will I lose image quality during conversion?

It depends on the formats involved. Converting to lossless formats like PNG will maintain quality, while lossy formats like JPEG or AVIF may reduce quality slightly. For AVIF specifically, we use intelligent quality settings based on image content - photos get more compression while graphics and text are preserved with higher quality. Our converter uses optimal settings to balance quality and file size, but you might notice minor differences when converting from lossless to lossy formats.

Can I convert multiple images at once?

Absolutely! Our batch conversion feature allows you to convert multiple images simultaneously. Simply drag and drop all your images, select the desired output format, and click "Convert All". You can then download each image individually or use the "Download All" button to get all converted images at once.

Which format is best for website images?

AVIF is now the best choice for modern websites, providing significantly better compression than JPEG or WebP while maintaining excellent quality. Our implementation automatically optimizes AVIF encoding based on image content for the smallest possible file sizes. For maximum compatibility, WebP is still a good option as it's supported by most modern browsers, while JPEG remains the most compatible format for photographs. PNG is best for images requiring transparency.

Do you keep copies of my images?

No, we don't store your images anywhere. All processing happens directly in your browser, and your images never leave your device. This local processing approach ensures complete privacy and security for all your image conversions.
